M.S.Dhoni & Varun Aaron Performed Well Against England

Two Jharkhandi Players, senior pro captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and young debuting Varun Raymond Aaron left their indelible mark in the recently concluded One Day International (ODI) Cricket Series against the visiting England Team.

It was paradoxical indeed, when the team for recently concluded ODI Series against England was announced.

  • One team-member, M.S. Dhoni urgently needed to ‘rest’ after playing almost non-stop cricket in last nine months, juggling the mentally and physically tiresome jobs of a Captain, Wicket-keeper and swashbuckling batsman. But he did his job with panache.
  • On the other end of spectrum, Varun Aaron desperately needed an ‘opportunity’, an international game, after he had dutifully warmed the benches in last couple of months. Varun was expected to make his international debut against England in United Kingdom.

To build the hype around the bilateral series, the Cricket Broadcasting Channel along with the over-the-top our Electronic Media, the series was termed as the ‘Payback’ or the ‘Revenge-series’. They urged vociferously that the Indian Team should return the compliments, by soundly beating the visiting England Team. They wanted the ODI-World Champion Indian Team to wipe out the ignominy heaped on them during their series in English-Summer, which took place only a few months back. Despite so much hype, many of the die-hard cricket fans silently gave the series, a miss, the half empty stadium-stands and low TRP ratings of the series bear testimony to that. Maybe it was the cricket-fatigue that has set in; not only among the Players but even among the Spectators. It appears as if Law of Diminishing Return has finally hit even ‘The Cricket’ in India, which has enjoyed so far ‘The God’ like status among its fans.

But one player, like true professional, the one who never tires, who simply goes on and on, as if it is just an another day in office, the Captain M.S. Dhoni turned up again and gave thoroughly clinical performance, tiredness or no tiredness.

M.S. Dhoni was awarded Man of Series for his consistency and inspired performance. Not once he was dismissed in the series and now the Cricket Experts are hailing him as one of the best-finisher of recent times. Even one of the best finisher of last generation, Michael Beven, he happily agrees with the new tag accorded to M.S. Dhoni.

At the same time Varun was made to wait for his turn. His patience finally paid off and he made memorable debut in the 4th ODI. His performance in ODI series against England is as under:

India won the series 5 to Nil against the England and the good performances of Jharkhandi-Duo in series certainly helped.

Now, after taking a breather for a few days from the heavily packed cricket calendar, the Indian Cricket Team is going to play West-Indies in the forthcoming Test and ODI Series in India. The tour fixture for the same is as under:

It seems there is no respite for the cricket players as well as cricket fans. Nevertheless, with Indian Cricket Team winning, far fewer people are complaining.
