It seems so Jharkhand is again heading for political uncertainty over the issue of who will head the State Government, or in other words which political party will lead the government and who will be the next Chief Minister. It is most likely fallout in the tussle for Chief Minister’s seat between BJP Party (Bhartiya Janta Party) and JMM Party (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Party).
This scenario is most likely after hurriedly called Press Conference, today evening; BJP’s Arjun Munda led coalition government in Jharkhand has refused to hand over the reins of government and Chief Minister-ship to JMM party. It may be recalled that in the past few weeks, in fact in last couple of months; JMM led by Shibu Soren and Dy. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had asked BJP and incumbent Chief Minister Arjun Munda earlier to hand-over the reins of Government to JMM by 10th January 2013.
JMM had claimed that when three coalition partners, viz., BJP, JMM, AJSU (All Jharkhand Student Union) & JD-U (Janta Dal-United) formed a coalition government in Jharkhand; both JMM and BJP parties had reached political understanding that BJP party would lead the government for first 28 months and for the rest of 28 months, JMM party would head the government. Besides, according to JMM party, the term of BJP led coalition government expires on 10th January 2013.
It is pertinent to note that both BJP and JMM have 18 MLAs each, while AJSU has 6 MLAs and JD-U has 2 members; thereby their coalition government has majority with 44 members as of now, in 81 members Jharkhand State Assembly.
But today evening, CM Arjun Munda held a press conference and denied ever being involved in any kind of 28 & 28 months of political arrangement with JMM party, as discussed in the above paragraph. While JMM Party strongly maintains that they had such an arrangement.
We do not know who is speaking the truth and who is lying in the said issue. But it seems, the people of state would suffer another round of political uncertainty. As the personal political ambitions of the present lot of our Jharkhand’s Political Leaders take precedence over the welfare and interest of Jharkhand’s people.
So, we along with the helpless Jharkhandi voters, as a passive bystander, watch the unfolding of another distasteful act being enacted in the ongoing political theatre of Jharkhand.
Old years may pass and New Year may come, but the political immaturity opportunitism refuse to go away in Jharkhand, not even in 2013.
